About Captain
Publishing tools for independent journalists, personalized to you.
Captain is an alternative to the AI publishing platforms large publishers are using to stay ahead of the game, but for individual journalists.
Journalism is a crucible right now. Large journals are switching to fully automated research, writing, and publishing, leaving thousands of journalists without the career that they have worked for their entire lives. It is not Captain's intention to "fix" this issue of society gradually replacing every aspect of the human workforce. What Captain does is give agency back to individual journalists. There are so many journalists out there right now who have to find a different career path, or want to go into publishing for themselves on social media or elsewhere to make up for their missing income, but simply do not have the time or resources to do it all on their own. In the time a large publisher will produce 10 articles, you will have written one. It is not fair, and Captain wants to put you back in the game.
Captain is an AI publishing platform personalized to you. First, it guides your onboarding. It learns your writing process, takes your voice and tone from a gallery of all your previous work, and creates a writing profile for you. Then, every morning it will curate a list of articles for you based on what is happening in your field right now. You select which articles you are interested in writing about, and Captain will give you the option to write an article or a shorter social media post. Captain then goes out, researches your chosen article alongside three related sources, and gives you a draft you can edit and rework. You can edit however you like, but Captain comes built-in with a useful feature to highlight a piece of text and get a few suggested edits. Then, you will be given the option to automatically publish to all your chosen platforms.
Captain also continuously learns from you. The more edits you make, the more personalized Captain becomes to your exact writing style. Every morning Captain suggests a few changes to its writing process, based on your edits, and lets you choose whether or not to implement them.
